SOS - Framed

SOS explores the hidden stories contained within a vintage nautical chart of the Sussex coast. Known shipwrecks are picked out in metallic detail, while interrupted lines trace fragments of their final journeys across the mapped sea.

Layered with resin, the chart becomes both map and memorial: a record of routes, wreck sites and maritime histories reduced to dots, dashes and navigational marks. This piece follows the journey of the Miown and highlights some of the many unnamed wrecks in the area.
